Featuring a newly developed 7K full-frame CMOS sensor, the Canon EOS C50 is a compact cinema camera for serious video and photo work. It records 3:2 open-gate video, 4K at up to 120 fps and Cinema RAW Light up to 7K, and it captures approximately 32MP stills in a dedicated photo mode. Choose between video and photo modes for an intuitive hybrid shooting experience. Dual Pixel CMOS AF II, simultaneous 2K crop recording, built-in Frame.io Camera to Cloud integration and XC Protocol remote control make it a flexible tool for filmmakers, documentary crews, content creators and hybrid shooters. The included detachable top handle adds two 3-pin XLR inputs and onboard controls for easy-to-reach adjustments. Lens not included.

• 7K full-frame CMOS sensor: Low-noise imaging in a wide range of lighting conditions, with an advertised dynamic range of 16 stops in full-frame mode and oversampled 4K output from 7K capture.
• 3:2 open gate: The first Cinema EOS camera with open-gate recording. Select Full Frame 3:2 in the Sensor Mode menu to record the full sensor area, then crop or reframe to the aspect ratio of your choice in post. This is especially useful with anamorphic lenses.
• Internal RAW and high frame rate recording: Record 7K 60p Cinema RAW Light in three 12-bit modes (HQ, ST and LT), or use XF-AVC in 10-bit 4:2:2 for rich detail and smooth images at up to 120 fps without cropping. Fast and slow motion is available up to 4K 120p. XF-AVC S and XF-HEVC S codecs offer easy-to-manage file naming and folder structures while preserving metadata.
• Anamorphic de-squeeze: Internal de-squeeze options of 2x, 1.8x, 1.5x and 1.3x let you preview anamorphic footage accurately.
• Dual base ISO: Base ISOs of 800 and 6400 in Canon Log 2 maximize the sensor's dynamic range, with an Auto Selection mode that switches between base levels while maintaining that range.
• Dual Pixel CMOS AF II: Keeps your subject in focus in slow and fast motion, with support for frame rates up to 4K 120p and 2K 150p. Deep-learning subject detection offers left or right eye priority for people and animals, including birds.
• Simultaneous crop recording: When shooting in DCI 4K or UHD, automatically save a 2K crop in a 9:17, 9:16 or 1:1 aspect ratio alongside your main recording, which reduces turnaround time for social media deliverables.
• Dual card slots: One CFexpress Type B slot and one SD card slot, both supporting simultaneous recording even when shooting in RAW. The main recording is stored to the CFexpress card, while sub-recording and proxy files go to the SD card.
• Native vertical shooting interface: Switch to the vertical UI and the display, menu settings and LCD brightness controls reorient for portrait-orientation filming, with touch controls for start and stop recording.
• Detachable handle unit: The included handle provides two full-size 3-pin XLR inputs with 48V phantom power for shotgun microphones, plus a built-in start/stop button and a zoom rocker for easy control on low-angle shots.
• Comprehensive connectivity: HDMI output, headphone output, timecode port, 3.5mm microphone input, 2.5mm remote port and a multipurpose USB-C port for a smartphone or Ethernet adapter, plus an intelligent hot shoe for wireless audio communication.
• XC Protocol and streaming: Built-in Wi-Fi supports Canon's IP-based XC Protocol for remote control with controllers such as the RC-IP1000 and RC-IP100, as well as third-party control panels. Canon's Remote Control Camera Application and Multi-Camera Control app can adjust camera settings and control multiple cameras, and SRT support enables direct IP streaming of audio and video.
• Frame.io Camera to Cloud: Native compatibility sends proxy files immediately after internal recording for efficient remote review, sharing and editing, with no extra processing or conversion required.
• Virtual production support: Outputs CV Protocol to multiple devices, with lens metadata extracted using the CV Metadata Extraction plugin on compatible computers.
• Mirrorless photo mode: Flip a switch to turn the cinema camera into a full-featured mirrorless camera with the familiar EOS R series menu system. Shoot approximately 32MP stills at standard ISO up to 64,000 and up to 40 shots per second with Dual Pixel CMOS AF II.
