Sensor and Image Quality

The 1/1.1-inch square CMOS sensor records 4:3 footage with fine detail and supports video up to 4K at 120 fps. Photos are captured at approximately 38MP (7168 x 5376) or 8K in a 16:9 frame, and the square sensor leaves room for custom framing and cropping after the shot. The 155-degree field of view keeps more of the scene in frame. The 10-bit D-Log M color mode provides over one billion colors and 13.5 stops of dynamic range, which gives more latitude for color grading. Raw photo capture is also supported.

Variable Aperture

The camera uses a variable aperture that ranges from f/2 to f/4 rather than a fixed aperture. It can be adjusted manually or automatically to suit scenes from low-light night shots to detailed landscapes. When paired with the optional macro lens, the camera can capture close-up shots with a shallow depth of field.

Night and Low-Light Shooting

SuperNight mode combines the larger sensor, larger aperture, and noise reduction to record detailed video in low light at up to 4K60. Starburst mode turns point light sources in night scenes into starburst patterns for a more dramatic look.

Stabilization

RockSteady 3.0 reduces camera shake while keeping the sense of motion in first-person footage and supports recording up to 4K120. HorizonSteady keeps footage level through rotation and corrects tilt at any angle in 2.7K60 video. HorizonBalancing corrects tilt within plus or minus 45 degrees and supports stable 4K60 recording.

Slow Motion, Pre-Recording, and Highlights

The 4nm chip supports up to 32x slow motion using 4x frame interpolation. Recording at 1080p240 produces the equivalent of 960 fps in post-production. Pre-recording captures and keeps moments from before the record button is pressed, and the highlight function lets you mark key moments during recording to speed up editing. Live photos convert 3-second video clips into moving photos.

Displays

The 2.5-inch rear OLED touchscreen and 1.46-inch front OLED touchscreen each reach 800 cd/m² brightness. The front screen is useful for framing selfies and vlogging, and both screens support touch controls for settings, mode changes, and playback. The interface adapts when the camera is switched between horizontal and vertical orientation, and the touchscreens respond to input with wet hands. With Always On Display enabled, both screens show recording duration and specifications at lower power consumption.

Audio

Three built-in omnidirectional microphones record audio directly on the camera. The DJI OsmoAudio ecosystem supports direct connection to two DJI microphone transmitters without a separate receiver and offers 32-bit float recording. The camera can also connect to other external microphones with an optional USB-C to 3.5mm cable. A built-in microphone audio backup feature blends ambient sound with the external audio.

Waterproof Design

The camera body can be submerged to a depth of 65.6 feet without additional accessories. With the optional waterproof case, the rated depth increases to 197 feet. A built-in water pressure gauge displays depth and altitude and can start and stop recording automatically when the camera enters or exits the water. The gauge activates underwater at a depth of 3.3 feet and is effective only when the camera is used without a waterproof case.

Battery and Charging

The 1950mAh DJI Extreme Battery Plus provides up to 240 minutes of operating time and works in temperatures as low as -4°F. Fast charging brings a battery to 80% in 22 minutes and to a full charge in 52 minutes. This combo includes three batteries and a multifunctional battery case.

Storage and Connectivity

The camera has 50GB of built-in storage with an optimized bit rate for smaller file sizes, plus a microSD card slot that supports cards up to 1TB. Files transfer over Wi-Fi 6 or USB 3.1, with wireless transfer speeds up to 80 MB/s. The camera can live stream over its built-in dual-band Wi-Fi or a phone hotspot. Timecode support allows footage from multiple cameras to be synchronized.

Subject Tracking

Subject tracking detects the position of a subject and adjusts the composition to keep it centered in horizontal or vertical shots.

Mounting and Design

The dual-direction quick-release design lets you attach the camera to mounts and accessories in either direction and switch between them quickly. The horizontal-vertical protective frame allows native vertical video for social media platforms. Tempered glass and an anti-fingerprint coating help keep the touchscreens responsive, including when wet.

Mimo App

After connecting a smartphone wirelessly, the Mimo app lets you preview the camera view and adjust settings. It includes editing templates and a One-Tap Edit feature that works without downloading footage to the phone. Additional tools include Sports Dashboard, Vivid Underwater, and InvisiStick.
