Garmin fēnix® 9, DLC Titanium, 47mm, Carbon Gray/Black

The Garmin fēnix 9 is the flagship of Garmin's multisport GPS smartwatch line, built for athletes and adventurers who want training depth and backcountry navigation in the same watch. This configuration pairs a 47 mm DLC Titanium case with a Carbon Gray/Black colorway. This is a non-inReach configuration — it does not include satellite or LTE hardware.

Highlights

  • AMOLED display twice as bright as the previous generation, under a scratch-resistant sapphire lens
  • Titanium bezel and rear cover with leakproof buttons and a dive rating to 40 meters
  • 64 GB of onboard storage — double the fēnix 8 generation — for twice as many offline maps and up to 7,000 songs
  • Faster mapping — 50% more RAM than fēnix 8, up to 30% quicker map panning, up to 40% faster round-trip route calculation and a new perspective view
  • Multi-band GNSS with SatIQ™ automatically selects the most efficient satellite mode for the conditions
  • Elevate™ Gen 5 heart rate sensor with ECG app, Pulse Ox, wrist temperature, HRV status and advanced sleep tracking
  • 100+ activity profiles, including a full indoor rowing performance suite, expanded rucking with GORUCK workouts and the new ArcheryX profile
  • Garmin Epic turns a multi-day trip or training block into one cohesive story in Garmin Connect™
  • Extended multi-day battery life in smartwatch mode

Display and build

AMOLED touchscreen, twice as bright as the previous generation, scratch-resistant sapphire lens. The watch is built around a high-strength titanium bezel and titanium rear cover over a fibre-reinforced polymer case. The DLC (diamond-like carbon) coating on this configuration adds a matte, hard-wearing finish that resists scuffing and scratching. Leakproof buttons and a 40 m dive rating mean it handles swimming, snorkeling and recreational diving as readily as it handles rain and dust. Five physical buttons work alongside the touchscreen, so you can still operate the watch in gloves or underwater, and a built-in LED flashlight with variable white and red light settings means you are never caught out after dark. The 47 mm case is the mainstream size in the fēnix 9 family, balancing screen area against all-day and overnight wearing comfort. The Carbon Gray/Black band is QuickFit® 22 mm, so it swaps in seconds without tools.

Navigation and mapping

Routable TopoActive maps come preloaded, with contour lines, points of interest and turn-by-turn guidance. The fēnix 9 generation carries 50% more RAM than fēnix 8 and a rebuilt map engine, so panning is up to 30% faster, round-trip routing is up to 40% faster, and a new perspective view adds detail both close-up and further ahead — you can see what is coming even if you change course mid-route. Multi-band GNSS with SatIQ tracks GPS, GLONASS and Galileo, switching modes automatically to hold accuracy in canyons and tree cover without needlessly draining the battery. ClimbPro, Up Ahead, back-to-start routing and a built-in altimeter, barometer and 3-axis compass round out the outdoor toolkit, and 64 GB of storage leaves room to keep several map regions downloaded at once.

Training and health

The Elevate Gen 5 optical sensor drives 24/7 heart rate monitoring, an ECG app, Pulse Ox, respiration, wrist temperature, HRV status and advanced sleep tracking with a sleep score and sleep coach. On the training side you get training readiness, training status and load, acute load, endurance and hill scores, VO2 max, lactate threshold, recovery time, race predictors and Garmin Coach adaptive plans for running, cycling, strength and conditioning. The new stamina curve and stamina zones show in real time how much you have left in the tank and how your training is shifting that over the weeks. Indoor rowing now gets a full performance suite — VO2 max, FTP, power curve and power zones — with compatible equipment, and rucking supports adjustable pack weights up to 100 kg with GORUCK workouts you can follow from the wrist. More than 100 activity profiles cover running, trail running, cycling, swimming, triathlon, hiking, skiing, golf, diving, strength, HIIT and the new ArcheryX and gaming profiles.

Smart features

Paired with a compatible smartphone the watch handles notifications, calendar and weather, and the built-in speaker and microphone allow voice calls and voice assistant access from the wrist. Music storage and playback works offline with compatible streaming services, Garmin Pay™ handles contactless payments, and everything syncs to the free Garmin Connect app, where you can review trends, follow training plans, join challenges and share activities. Connect IQ™ adds watch faces, data fields and apps.
