The f/2.8 maximum aperture is a trade-off between adequate brightness so it can be suitably used in available light situations and a lightweight, compact form factor. It comes with two aspherical elements that adjust spherical aberrations and distortion which leads to greater sharpness and more accurate rendering. The brass bayonet enhances mounting accuracy and rigidity. It is also complemented with a rounded seven-blade diaphragm that contributes to pleasing bokeh quality.
To lower lens flare and ghosting, Sigma 30mm f/2.8 DN lens elements are designed with a super multi-layer coating. Even in the backlit condition, it can create contrast-rich and color-neutral imagery.
