The lens is a part of the AT-X line, facilitating notable optical performance and providing advanced features, including high-precision mechanical zoom. The lens comes with a bonded multi-layer coating that prevents or minimizes the reflections off the lens' surface. This coating possesses a transparent anti-reflection chemical that enables faithful color reproduction, rendering clean, sharp images.
The lens is designed for Nikon EF cameras and provides 16.5-135mm equivalent focal length. In addition, the lens is thoughtfully designed with super-wide zoom and provides a zoom range starting from 16.5mm, which makes it easier to achieve high quality and consistency even with distant subjects. This feature makes it ideal for distant photography applications.
The design comes with three aspherical, one all-glass precision-molded, and 2 compound elements that minimize the secondary spectrum caused by chromatic aberration.
