The Viltrox AF 135mm f/1.8 LAB is the flagship of Viltrox's LAB series, a fast full-frame medium-telephoto prime built for Nikon Z-mount mirrorless cameras such as the Z5, Z5II, Z6II, Z6III, Z7II, Z8, Z9, Zf and ZR. The 135mm focal length delivers the flattering compression and dramatic subject isolation that portrait, wedding, fashion and event photographers love, while the bright f/1.8 maximum aperture renders smooth, creamy backgrounds and keeps shutter speeds high in dim venues.
Autofocus is driven by Viltrox's patented HyperVCM voice-coil motor system, which Viltrox rates at roughly 150% faster than conventional STM motors. A dual floating-focus design keeps image quality consistent from infinity down to the 0.72 m (2.36') minimum focus distance, and minimized focus breathing makes the lens equally capable for video, interviews and cinematic rack-focus work.
Optically, 14 elements in 9 groups, including 4 extra-low dispersion (ED) and 2 high-refractive (HR) elements, suppress chromatic aberration and distortion for sharp, high-contrast, color-accurate images, while an 11-blade rounded diaphragm produces beautifully circular bokeh. The magnesium-aluminum alloy barrel is dust- and moisture-resistant, and the front element carries a water- and stain-repellent coating for confident shooting outdoors.
